Donal, thanks a lot for giving us an added insight in to your background, and I particularly like your comment of offering to help where possible. You certainly can, and your skills could be much appreciated. There is a small group within this Forum called the Thursday Club, where we try and help the neediest and poorest of the poor kids locally, and seek out particular projects to get involved with. It's not a full time task by any means, but it gives some of us a reason to get out of bed in the mornings.

If you go to the General Chat section of the Forum, then look for the thread "Your Help Needed Please" and read through it, it will give you an idea of what we are about. It's free to join and free to stay. Our first project was to provide the school supplies for a lot of the poorest kids in the poorest area of Dumaguete and then we set about redecorating and refurbishing parts of the school. The outcome was that a lot of parents enrolled their kids to attend school instead of sending them begging and hawking along the Boulevard. Job done and a great result. We are currently looking at a day-care centre for under fives, and also the childrens ward of the local hospital where only the very poorest dare to go !! So your specialist skills could be invaluable to us.

For any further info and to join us, just contact PatO. By joining, it will also give you access to the Thursday Club section of the Forum and keep you informed of anything that is happening until you get here.

On that note, and without wishing to hi-jack the thread, Kevin (Firefly44) many thanks for your recent donation to our current project. PatO collected from Western Union and passed it on to me so the money is safely in the pot.

    Roger
