    40 and plumb.

Garbanzo, if I recall my geography lessons, Perth is kind of on the opposite end of everything in Australia. What we used to call 40 and plumb down South in the US. That's 40 miles from anywhere and plumb in the middle of nowhere. Or like California, on the left coast. Of course, you guys from Perth are nowhere near as weird as Californians. Australia is one of those places I have always wanted to see, but have never made it. Hat off to you.

    Thanks for the link.

A quick note to Kenny. Thanks for the Chronicle link. It works just fine in your post. I have added it to my favorites and will check it regularly.

Yes longhaul, funny term 40 and plum, you are right - Perth is at the @ss end of the world. Most isolated city on the planet I believe. Kind of nice that way too...We're down in the south-west corner of Australia on the Indian Ocean coastline. Some beautiful countryside, especially further south. Gets pretty rugged north and east in the bush. Fantastic beaches almost everywhere along the coast. If you get the chance come on down to Oz....plenty to see and do and most visitors love it.
