Spearfishing

As for my Grouper...The conditions for spearfishing in Miami Florida are completey different than they would be in other parts of the World especially the Philippines. As one of only a handful of spearfishermen there in Miami I can say that our impact is negligible. There are thousands of Rod and Reel fishermen that take more in one weekend day than what we take in one year. In any event there is strict law enforcement by Florida Marine Patrol (FMP) and most all fish have size and take limits. I only shoot what I will eat and I have not seen any negative impact on the fisheries from spearfishing as far as the places I dive . What I do see is a deterioration of the reefs from pollution.
As for lobster, there is a mini season that takes place the last wednesday and thursday of July. This is to allow recreational divers to get lobster before the commercials lay their traps. Mini season attracts way too many people who are not experienced and every year it seems someone dies. In any event the FMP fines many people for taking lobsters that are undersized or have eggs. This is good. The allowed catch limit per person during mini-season is 6 lobsters per day. BTW, a license is required to lobster and this brings in much needed revenue to the state for use in protecting the fisheries. Then on August 7 the season opens to everyone. Again, daily catch limits for recreational lostering is 6 per day. As far as depletion of the Lobster stocks in any given year, generally this is from environmental issues such as pollution or deadly bacteria affecting the larvae.

Now as for the things on my site. I wrote those based on my experiences and those of others I know. If you don't agree then that is fine. But I would appreciate if you would refraim from insulting me just because we don't agree on things.

 

Spearfishing, Lobstering and killing of Food

I can see that the subject of spearfishing is distressfull to some here as well as the ripping or TAILING as it is officially called of the loster tail from the body. everything from the sea has to be killed somehow and spearfishermen probably are more humane in the process as we kill the fish instantly in most cases. Unlike commercials. Anyway, by law you are not supposed to tail a lobster underwater. You are supposed to wait until you are on land and then measure it again for legal sizing. The you tail it and throw the head into the water where it can provide nutriion to other creatures. Anyhow, the real focus should be on the absolute inhumane killing processes of chickens, pigs and cows. now that is enough to make one a vegetarian.

 

My " insult " at your address is a reaction on your way of telling Fillipina women are " bad news " I know of a case that happend during a flight from Davao , that an Australian was telling the same , resulting in a Persona Non Grata in his travel document within 48 hours after the incident ... Beside my reaction, I do believe you have recieved some others as well , right ?

If you YOURSELF have treated the girls or women wrong , then you can aspect things .Beside that, I do believe you should take some lessons in "How to familiarize with the Philippine Lifestyle."

If you are the one that is attacking on Fillipino women , surely some others can defend them , right ? But may I remind you that it is YOU alone that started insulting Fiilppina women !!! NOT ME !!So there you have it

And please don,t tell a cock and bull story about killing a 100 Lbs grouper by meens of one single spear wound..

You are amazing Earl. A total ignoramous. What amazes me about you is how you make an indictment of me from a single page on my web site. Read the site and then make your conclusion with at least some objectivity. The fact is, you don't know anything about me, my familiarity with this country, its people and customs. You simply make indictments without any merit. BTW, it was one fortunate kill shot on the Black Grouper at 140 feet and the meat was not tough as you might think. Anyway, please don't debate me on things you know absolutely nothing about. Geez.

 

May I remind you that I am already 27 years in this country !!! Beside ,I see NOBODY here is backing you up !!! As for Filipino women, I'm sure there are some bad eggs, just like with any other culture or country on the face of the earth (especially U.S.), and maybe philippinediver had an encounter with a Filipino lady that left a sour taste in his mouth. I was fortunate to meet a woman from Dumaguete nearly 4 years ago, and have never known such a level of love and commitment as she has shown. She isn't materalistic and doesn't desire material things. Good thing because I don't have much of these, and she knew this long ago She knows how to love and is so dedicated, despite the ocean of distance between us. She has two desires....to serve Christ, and to spend her life with me (in that order). I love her so much.

I just finished reading the Philippinediver website regarding the Philippine women. Based on your "experience" does not qualify you to make judgement of the Filipina. I have been married for over 28 years to a former USAF. I am the sole provider of our household. My husband is working as a truck driver, and I work for the Federal Reserve Bank system as a professional Analyst. I have traveled around the world through my work as well as personal travel.

I take your stereotyping very disturbing. And for you to settle in the Philippines is even more disturbing since this is how see women in the Philippines.

 

What page is everyone referring to? Is it the link titled "Women" on the left side of the homepage? If so, I didn't take it in the bad light that some here are. To me it seemed like a warning to other expats regarding some bad apples out there. It is a good idea to have something so guys are aware of it and can protect themselves accordingly. Some guys get caught up in the illusion and become blind to it.....and it ruins their lives. If guys are alert to those tactics then they can look for signs of it and stop it early.

I have heard of guys getting tricked.....and have even had Filipinas tell me to watch for girls like that as well.

Filipinas are great and there are some good ones out there. My girlfriend falls into the "very poor" category. Known her for almost 5 years. She is great and I wasn't offended by the article. If I was in PI with her now I would want her to read the article to hear her opinion on it. I have a feeling she would agree with many parts of it. She knows girls that fall into that category, yet she has not been corrupted by them.
