Reedee...I know and respect you, but now you are driving in phils?
Well, there goes my "island paradise".
This is why Rudy is such a perfect wife. I asked her if she wanted me to teach her to drive (car or motorcycle) and she replied "drive? No that's a man's job".
See? Even Rudy agrees with Rhoody.

    driving

I guess if I hadn't been driving for 28 years already I might think that was a "man's job" too, but I drove myself about a hundred miles every day back and forth to work for years and I already know how to drive. The ladies here see only men as private drivers and only men driving pedi cabs, so I can see where that train of thought, that it is a man's job, because men do get paid to do that here. I didn't drive in Manila because I was very well aware of my limitations (or fears ) there and I won't allow myself to drive here if I feel it is too much. But, I NEED to be able to drive here, my husband is getting worse and I cannot count on him to do all the driving anymore. If you want I will let you know when I will be on the streets so you can stay in if it makes you feel safer. I am probably the safest driver out there right now, though, because I still signal when turning, slow down at intersections and stop when I am supposed to. I am also very respectful of all the other drivers and I don't assume everyone is watching out for me, unlike most of the other drivers here.

Reedee, you are better than me. In only 6 short months, I have forgotten 55 years of driving in the US. NOW, I drive just like the locals do. Of course, I also am hoping that if I drive like them, they won't notice that I'm a "foreigner".
