I went to the Land Office in Sibulan to pay my property tax, and they played the 3 o'clock prayer and everybody stopped what they are doing...means they do it pretty much in the gov't offices too.

Have you heard the morning prayer at Lee Plaza? I heard it a couple of weeks ago. I cannot be certain of the exact time, but it was around 9 am give or take a little. I believe it is meant for the employees to listen to before the doors open upstairs as I was in the grocery when I heard it.

I can't recite it, but it has something to do with being a good employee and not stealing from the big Chinaman in the sky (Mr Lee). I am sure it is a special prayer for St Chinajunk.

I got to say I like it better than the Muslim call to prayer I used to here in some of the garden spots I got to work in years ago.

Welcome Tom, hope you and your good lady find contentment when you setle here.

I was in Robinsons food hall when the Hallelujah Hour came on. All the employees stood around with a blank look on their faces. It was a bit puzzling to me, because when the Message from the Messiah had finished, nothing changed.

As a seaman I would visit Surabaya Indonesia frequently.

I would sometimes sleep ashore (:D) and I always thought the Muslim morning call to prayer was quite cool.

The singing Muslim sounded so foreign and exotic.

agreed...If you stay in Ermita there is a mosque there next to the Duck Inn, Ermita is the Muslim area of Manila. Use to lay there and listen to the call to prayer, thought it very enchanting. I even managed to get a recording of one through a friend
