OK, the book that Donesa bought, there is a question at the end of chapter 5 about dive planning

What is the minimum surface interval reqiured between 20m/70ft for 29 minutes followed by a dive to 14m/50ft for 39 minutes?

Now, going by meters, the two do not intercept so I'm assuming one can make this dive immediately. However, if I was to use the ft method then the minimum time would be, according to my planning 3 minutes

Is there a correct answer to this?

That is my favorite Question of KR 5 of the open water course....

you are right. the correct answer in metric is 0 minutes, in imperial is 3 minutes...

3 minutes is less than the minimum time you need for changing tanks anyway..,.

Some divers are a kind of surprised when I tell them we jump in the water for the 2nd dive after 15 minutes... They all talking about that 60 Minutes surface interval.... Bullx#$!

do you think PADI (an American association) would teach something if it would not be safe ???

BTW, for Donesa, there are 3 questions like that in the final exam, not about dive-planning, about using a bit brain....

If she has any question, she has my Yahoo, so tell her to ask me.. I am happy to help...

    cheers

    Rhoody
