She went down to the immigration office to have an "agent" help her out. She ended up just getting her visa renewed for whatever reason. Looks like I will have to take care of it whenever I get there. As for the P100,000, I wish it were that much. I can't count how many times she has been a month or two late on renewing that thing. The penalties and fines alone probably cost me P100,000.
This may be late for you to take advantage of right now but if your wife were to to leave the PI and return she would only have to declare to the immigration officer that she wants to take advantage of the balikbayan privilege and she will get a free visa for one year and it is eligible for a six month extension. This priviledge is also extended to you and your legal minor children but you would have to all arrive together, have all your papers (passports, marriage certificate, birth certificates, etc.) with you but heck its one year to 18 months being visa free and she may be able to get her dual citizenship before the 18 months are up. Just a thought. You may also want to study up on the TRV - Temporary Resident’s Visa but your wife will have to declare her citizenship first and stop getting visitor visas. Decisions, decisions and none of them are easy of course.
TILT, DING, NO SALE! Those availing of the balikbayan privilege are not "eligible for a 6 month extension". At the end of the year stay, they have three options; 1. They leave the country, whereupon they can return and start over on the balikbayan. 2. They can convert to tourist visa, and start paying for extensions every 2 months as a tourist, for up to 16 months, 2 years with special clearance from Manila. 3. They can use that year to apply for 13A permanent resident. (If married to a Filipino.) Larry
Hi Larry, option 1 how long do you have to be out of the country to start over your balikbayan privileges. thanks in advance. Jim
She went to the, wherever you go for visa stuff in Dumaguete. She sent me a message that said this, "I paid for the extension and my ACR today. ACR is good for 1 year". What is an ACR? If an "ACR" is a type of visa why would she have extended her tourist visa? I'm not getting any good information out of her. She just takes the word of whoever she is dealing with.
There is no requirement, other than to leave and re-enter. You can come back the same day if you wish. Larry
The ACR (Alien Certificate of Registration) is nothing more than an ID card issued to foreigners. Basically it is a means to milk more money out of us. Larry
I suggest that you go to Orientwind Travels near Lab-as in Piapi, Dumaguete where you can get answers for your queries without being milked. They have honest and decent people there to help you and who will not make you guys some milking cows. It is run by a good family.
guess I don't have enough coffee yet, but what has spamming for a travel agency to do with the topic of this thread ??? well, I might come back in 2 hours and read again when awake, maybe I missed something
