    It's so embarrassing! Have millions of pesos budget for the road, and still no progress. By next year when I come home and still road not finish, I will take a video & send it to "bayan mo, e-patrol mo in abs-cbn, will see how it works. That's why I don't want to waste my vote to any politicians!

    Roadworks in and around Duma

    Kewl, my friend;

    The term "progressing backwards" is what, in the U.S.of A., we would refer to as being a ......."Play-On-Words".

    It is not necessarily to be taken in it's literal termonology.
    In this instant usage, it is meant as a "joke-joke".

    My friend, if you have the time or inclination, may I suggest you check the first 20 posting of that combination of words in the on-line dictionary, Wikipedia? You will find that precise termonology used there.

    Nice to make your acquaintence, my friend.

    And just what has safety got to do with anything, either in road construction progress or anything else in this country?
    Ask the poor pedicab driver that was crushed to death outside the Nat Stat's office recently, by a tree that had been severely weakened by both drainage canal and new cemented road construction.
    Other examples of just how important safety is, in the "powers that be's" minds, are obviously the many people burned to death annually, in homes and businesses, by fires caused by faulty electrical wiring etc. Obviously building codes are only here to be ignored, or yet another making money oppurtunity, (I distinctly remember the donation tins on the desks of municipal engineers/fire chiefs offices shoved under my nose, whilst applying for clearances etc).
    Non implementation of the national, motorcycle helmet and seat belt laws in the province by local government is another classic, but the list is endless.
    Safety is a non issue, always has been, always will be in this country, as no one gives a flying toss about it till something happens to them (or their families). Even then, it seems most people have very short memories if it's a "local" problem, but exactly the opposite when there's a foreigner/s involved. :rolleyes:

    Thank you folks for the updated information.
    For my observation it is a problem of coordination.
    Big machines are destroying the roads in order to make a new one, but what they destroy in one or two days it takes six months to make that road in good condition again.
    No problem so far.
    The problem starts when this big machines don't stop destroying roads all over metro Dumaguete with one big roadconstruction mess all over the place.
    Can someone ask the operator of that big machine to take vacation for one year?

    Now really, what is wrong with the electrical wiring code in the Philippines. Looks good to me, do you see any exposed wires? :wink: :eek:

    Hi;
    Nothing wrong with the wiring as long as their is no exposed "live" wires on it as far as safety concerned, but shows not a good and clean workmanship. The right way to do it(my opinion only) is to do all wire splicing on a standard metal or plastic junction boxes.
    Thanks!

    At least in that pic they used wire nuts and electrical tape. I've seen a fair amount of outside wiring where the wires are just knotted and twisted together! No wonder the power goes out when it rains!

    I hate to hear it isn't any better there.
    I have been gone for 4 months and going back soon. I was hoping the construction was finished.
    They couldn't slow traffic up anymore if the tried.

    Don,

    thanks for the info. i thought that was meant to be the other way around friend..... but i am always hopeful and positive about the city progress and around negros.... for a 3rd generation of citizens i would like to be positive about it and make this city and this province better......

    KTM,

    yes i know that safety has no sense in the locality but it might be well for the future... and for the people working in the dumaguete. it could be that this people could not understand what safety means but i urge the city government to make new policies and let people be aware and understand what safety means in our homes and in public spaces..........including construction either vertical or horizontal.....on the roads.....workers in offices or in any other area and it should be applicable to all to where people and machines are working and even in our home. men i know what we locals think but i think changes should be made for us. Safety is a very simple word yet it saves lives..... even myself......these is a challenge for dumaguete and elevate our standards. maybe not for the whole philippines but least we can start here.
