Like posted before, I was at the construction area and spoke to Mr. XXXXXX (the head of construction) and another engineer Mr. YYYYY.
They both asked me not to publish their names and/or any of the statements. I was not allowed to take any pictures but I have to say both were very friendly and I got a bit an overview about the ongoing survey (not construction !!!).

The official statement to DI was: "We are here now..."

Robinsons Mall Construction To Push Through

DUMAGUETE City Administrator Dominador Dumalag Jr. said the construction of the huge Robinsons mall in Barangay Calindagan would push through. Dumalag denied reports that Robinsons decided not to proceed with the construction when the mall failed to materialize after a year of work on the foundation.

He explained that the construction is ongoing but that it is focused on the parking area. With this development, Dumalag said business prospects in the city are getting brighter.

He also said a 16-storey building will also rise along E.J Blanco in Barangay Piapi, this year, and construction of other business establishments are still going on.

Dumalag said statistic shows that the city can support the operation of a mall like Robinsons, because survey depicts Dumaguete City at present as having a population of more than 400,000 at daytime. These include shoppers, students, visitors, and others.

Dumalag added that the establishments of different fast food chains, pension houses and other buildings last year mean the city is among the country's business capitals.
