    now, what would that 16 storey building be??? and the 400,000 population in daytime? Really? So what is the current population of the city now? How stable is the transient population?

    Hi All;
    Building a huge structure in an area few meters above sea level would always have problems with unstable foundation. The expensive portion of the project lies on the "Geotechnical Evaluation" of the soil where the structure of that magnitude being built.I guess when the contractor put in an estimate to build the Robinson Mall their was little allowance designated for the foundation of the building -thats why they understimated the total cost of the project when they found out that the land cannot carry the structure!

    Well if I said Waterfront Hotel Dumaguete, that should really light up google. If there was a Waterfront Hotel in Dumaguete, then you would have your high end tourist destination huh?
    Waterfront hotel in Dumaguete? Almost as incredulous as Robinsons.

    Hi;
    Until somebody will post the true reasons(from the horse mouth)for the delay in building/completing the Robinson Dumaguete, all we will get are all speculations.The desire to know the truth always part of human nature specially if its affecting you.

    New fact at April 17

    I pass the Robinsons place neary every day but have lost interesst for checking any new activities after many months of curiously looking without any change at all at the premises.
    This new thread made me curious again.
    I SAW SOMETHING THERE !
    A big digging machine and a guard in the entrance keeping an eye on curious people (which there aren't at all to see).
    From the gasoline station at the opisite side of the road I made this picture.
    So now surely we all believe that Robinsons will open very soon :D
    Maybe August :smile: :smile: 2009 :D

    Jelly, that kawawa blue construction machine is digging around in the sand at Robinsons since weeks.
    The Microsoft-RHB Inc. will open their Eco-friendly banana-chips factory in Valencia earlier, then we will have a proper movie-theater in Dumaguete.

    A glimpse of Robinson Place Dumaguete

    [IMG]
    This rendition of Robinsons Place Dumaguete gives us a glimpse of its interiors. It is quite classy and frankly speaking, I like it. Maybe foxylady can give us some other info regarding what the mall would look like. Better yet some more artists sketches of the mall's interiors.:D

    Somebody mentioned that it would be like the Powerplant Mall in Makati. This mall is quite expensive, and although I know that there are definitely a lot of well-to-do families and individuals in this area, RLC also has to cater to students and the lower segments of the society.

    One concept I find nice would be Market! Market! at The Fort. It is quite classy but is nevertheless full of inexpensive items and boutiques. It even has a tiangge inside selling gadgets and other tech stuff, including fashion accessories.

    ^As we said, there is only one solution if you do not like Robinsons Dumaguete. LEAVE!!! YOU DON'T OWN THIS PLACE. Most of us here like the mall, and like it the soonest time.
