easiest solution would be to shop during non-peak hours.

I remember Bacolod before and after malls...world didn't stop turning...people just as friendly as ever. Nice and convenient too. Don't have to drive all over town to pull off one minor shopping expedition. It's bloody great! You're gonna like it.

    I'm not grumpy at all
I moved to dumaguete coz I like it
and i odn't wnat to see it ruined by thoughtless greed
    If I didn't like it I i wouldn't be here.
What I detest is people who whinge about the absence of malls etc
lack of decent shopping, food, power everything
If you want that then p*ss off to a bigger city
Noone is forcing you to stay in dumaguete

Yabsy, you could also change your words into:
if you don't want the malls then ..........to ??? Robinson Island.
    Good one he ? Robinson
Let each one have it's own pro's and con's. I live here and don't mind at all when ROBINSON is coming in town, although I hope not to get many malls.
Competition is a good thing related to choises and prices for the people who live here .
You are a regular visitor, you realise ?

In the 11 pages of this thread, which I didn't want to read, I don't know if the following was posted.

According to the Negros Chronicle, the mall will absolutely open Mid 2009. Bad for some, Good for many.

in the event that dumaguete does become too crowded, there are always nearby towns that would take a while to develop, long after we're dead.

I have read this thread as it has developed. I would just like to say 2 things:

We all have our opinions on whether or not we want Robinsons to come to Dumaguete - so be it - they can be but opinions - it will happen or it will not. We mere mortals (expats) can do nothing about the ultimate outcome.

Secondly, and more importantly to me, I find it very sad that certain posters choose to turn the thread into a political and socio-economic argument and find that they have to use bad language to put over their point(s) of view.

I thoroughly enjoy being a part of this forum - it has taught me a lot. I really do not need to be offended by what I read.
