After a long period of doubting what to do, meaning, to go on with learning Tagalog or to start Visaya, I have stopped with Tagalog because as others mentioned here.....local people don't speak it, don't like to speak it !!.
I have a elementary school teacher now twice a week who comes to my place to teach me.
Yes, for her a way to increase her income somewhat.

    Better ask...how difficult
As i have had only 5 lessons till now of each 2 hours, it's too premature to make a good judgement.
But i was proud when she told me that my pronounciation was remarkably good. Maybe she hopes to get more salary :D
I hope that it helps me to have studied quite some other languages in my life.
I did a promise that in one year from now i will be able to communicate in Visaya with the locals here.
Big mouth ?....we will see :p

Yes, very good photos indeed echir! Your response took quite a while though. Hehehe. Dumaguete should hire you for your great infos about the city. We should also add that there are 4 Universities, many colleges, High Schools, Grade Schools and Early Learning facilities. The fees in all the schools are comparatively cheap even if the comparison is just with institutions in the Philippines.

And yes JB, do learn the Visayan dialect instead of tagalog. Tagalog/Pilipino is taught in the schools. You can always communicate in english if the person you're talking to is not Visayan.

    Good luck...

Best school in the philippines for kids? HOME SCHOOL! smartest move I ever made. Kids are better adjusted, learn a hellova lot more, adn can find the philipppines on a map. Washington DC too. and london, rome, athens, cape town... and for 5pesos they'll show u Kathmandu. the public school system here is tantamount to child abuse. pvt aint much better; indoctrination, not education. you been homeschooling 'em for 6 years, and doin a good job. why stop? nothin to it. first disconnect the cable
tv, get educational DVD's, and watch em take off. BBC english series, sesame street, discovery, Nat'l geo... and the net is loaded with more homeschool help than you'll ever need... FREE. Best school for kids? Lets get serious.
