⌛ Shoe Nazis in Why Not Disco

Ooops!! Sorry folks, my quick rep was just a little joke really. A quick translation would be: "maybe if we all just show up barefoot and see how they like that.. those with athletes foot, dont bother turning up" Doesn't sound as funny as it was in bisaya. I talked to the WhyNot owner Markus about that rule because I found it completely inexplicable and baffling, but first let me tell you that I have never heard of it being imposed on girls so our conversation pertained only to men wearing flip flops. Markus told me that everytime there was a fight there at the bar, it involved guys wearing flip flops so he banned them. His answer still sounded odd to me so I didn't pursue the matter with him. I think this is the same story I got from Charlie the security guard there. It just sounds so rediculous to me and everybody else that I simply don't believe the answer or the train of thought that would lead to his conclusion. Maybe he doesn't understand that correlation isn't the same thing as causation.... or more likely maybe Markus was beaten by a flip flop back in Switzerland when he was a kid :>)

 

....... or (drum roll here) maybe it's because flip flops are the cheapest footwear you can buy and therefore an indicator of financial status and your liklihood of spending some serious money in the place. I think he has made a wise choice in charging a consumable entrance fee and maybe he thinks its at the maximum that people will bear. This flip flop rule might be the only other thing they can think of to filter out the lounge lizards who will sip on one drink all night and leave someone else to pay the entertainment and electrical bill.

this is completely wrong!
I went there on friday with 4 european guests, 2 of them in Islanders they were not allowed to go in. Inside I saw plenty of philippinos ( guys) with flip flops. pls don't tell lies and Karabao-poo here and defend Markus. I know him a long time and he is a great guy. but maye he has to much business to take care of. We are here a Forum to inform people about the good thing and the bad things.... the Flip-Flop policy in Why Not? is a complete joke. I f you have the 70 peso consumable entrce fee or not.

By the way the 2 guys who where not allowed to go in got my!!!! socks and went in. We changed them in front of the security guide. and he told us : Now they are ok, they can pass..... great policy!!!!

Rhoody...i don't have any independent info on this topic except to tell you what both Markus and Charlie the security guard told me. DON"T SHOOT THE MESSENGER ! I faithfully and honestly told you what they told me. The answer I got also sounds rediculous to me. I said that several times in my post and then tried at an educational guess as to what other possible, more sane reasons Markus might have for this absurd situation and those were the only reasons I could think of. Have you got a better theory ?? There's got to be something behind it or...maybe I'm right that Markus was badly beaten as a little boy by flip flops....hey until I hear a better theory, I'm sticking to it !!

 

By the way, just because we think something is absurd it doesn't mean it is. Maybe we just don't know the real reason behind it. The engineers that designed the solid booster rockets for NASA's ShuttleCraft had their first designs rejected because the diameter of the rockets were bigger than 2 times the width of a Roman War Horses @ss !! It's a true story, but I haven't the time to explain it all to you now.

I don't care what Markus was beaten with as a boy, If he don't get over it he should not run a business that way 40+ years later. Charlie is a guy from a secutity company. Thats all. The security company was canceld at some places in Dumaguete cause their employees like to sleep when it is dark.

But all of that is not the problem of the customers who wanna go there. I can not tell my guests :
"This is the only disco in town, but you cant go in because you have flip-flops and the owner was beaten up with a flip-flop 40 years ago... It is ok to take a waitress in that resort in Dauin with the same owner to your room but you cant wear Flip-Flops without socks" .... man that is a BIG Joke.

I dont care about reasons, I care about facts and the reality we post here for people who wanna vistit this lovely great place: Dumaguete

I ALLWAYS WENT IN SLIPPERS AND NO PROBLEMS NOT EVEN A BAD LOOK.sorry caps . but really went in about 8 times and not a word from guard even looked after my car really helpfull .
