Don't get too excited if you use overseas servers. Speedtests to US-based servers gives slower speeds than what you get with Globe or PLDT. But, the speeds within the country are fast...of course that is of zero use to me...even DumagueteInfo is hosted overseas.

My normal ping test to where my VOIP is hosted is about 222ms. I have found the speeds are about the same, just latency is an issue. If you are lucky enough to be on the _-gate system offered by PLDT here in dumaguete it is just as fast as service in the Philippines, but of course the latency is still there. It terminates directly to the fiber that runs by Negros and does not go through Manila first.

I broke down and augmented my SKY cable connection with SmartBro. The installers were very good and even put the canopy receiver up on my existing tower about 75 feet up. Now that I have the SmartBro, I can upgrade to SmartBro Enterprise and get up to 7Mb with a dedicated IP - If I want to pay the price. I am going to wait and see what happens with the SkyCable for awhile, but at this point I am very happy with my two connections. Between the two I can use the IP Phone and surf the net at the same time which is important to me and my clients as we do things on the fly to speed development.
