Google and Facebook where softening skype for a buyout, MS shocked them and bought out Skype with an offer they cannot resist. MS is planning to get into mainstream video and VOIP to have it built in with every MS operating system they bring out but more importantly to add it to their Windows Phone 7 that is being smothered by iPhone and the myriad of Google Android devices that are taking over the mobile market. Personally I think this will up the wow factor for the decent Windows Phone 7 and would give them teeth to match the apple and google mobile behemoths.

I read they will and are not in any way planning to charge skype free users (the 580 million free and non-premium skype users is the lifeblood of the program and shooing them away by charging for its use would be unwise becasue there are plenty of other free choices)...

It will still be free service but they will just charge premiums if users want to call directly to a phone number as what the service already offers now. But I also feel their main interest in the buyout so FB and Google won't have their hands on it.

    Cheers.
