yet ? there are 3, 2 of them longer than I am in the PI, I dont know how long the north-road BPI is here but 4 years for sure.

BW, slowly you get me a bit confused, at the beginning you sounded like you know a lot about this region but slowly i get the feeling you haven't been here much and at least not the last few years.

don't take me, wrong but I think before you move you really should be a month or two here, cause that what you are expecting or talking about in earlier posts disappeared a lot in the last 3 years.

Yes, thank you, at least I won't have to go through the hassle of changing banks.

No, I really don't know a lot about the area, but I have friends who have been there and some of them are moving there.
The problem is, I am a family man and about all they can tell me about are discos, bars, recreation and eateries.
I, on the other hand need to know where and how to conduct business so my family can have the things they need, that's where I need you guys.
I also read a lot of classified ads and looked at maps of the area and even checked out several businesses online to make sure some of the things I will need when I arrive will be available.
This is the most helpful forum I have found for Duma and I really like it here.
    Kudos to all!

I hope all works out for you, I saw many people the last 6 years coming and going as Dumaguete is great for a visit but living here is already totally different and business on a page not yet written

I really dislike Cebu for many reasons, pollution and high prices are at the head of the list.
From what I have been able to find out, one can actually raise a garden in Duma.
I have yet to see anyone have much success with gardening here.
I also like the fact that Taxis and Jeepneys are restricted there.
Also, I'm told there is a poker club, a nice casino and lower land prices there, so I think I will really like it.
Yes, I play poker, but it isn't a full blown addiction as I spend most of the time with my 3 year old daughter.

Not sure you have all the right Information here Bruce. I am not too sure about land Costs in Cebu of Late. Dgte City land Costs are escalating steeply and Quickly. Cost comparison is Wise I feel, Out of town is also on the Rise.

    Jeepneys! yes are Regulated.

We have ONLY 5 Taxis I read somewhere only this week. (4.500 registered Tricycles Though, that do need regulating)

CASINO, News to me, only last week PatO posted on the fact, that the Mayor has said NO! (Pressure brought by the Church) This was echoed in the paper the Following Day

Poker Club! mmm Private and illicit I would hazard a guess at. (You will always find a card Game somewhere) At your peril I would think!

Bruce, just check the colour green you are looking for, The Green in Dgte may not be, the Greener Grass that you think.

I am sure that you will soon find out, that Dgte is the Motor Bike Capitol of the Philippines!
    Have a look on Utube.

I can't find the link at the moment, but one of the members here told me that there was a casino on the boulevard.
It doesn't really matter anyway, as most of my friends will be in Duma soon and we can play at each other's houses if necessary.
As far as land prices go, Mine is a scrappy 400sq.m hillside piece (in Cebu) that I paid P2,000 psq.m 2 years ago and it is about to sell for P3,000psq.m in the next month or so, as soon as the attorney gets everything lined up.
I aready have several properties lined up to look at just north of Duma that range in price from P400sq.m to P1,500sq.m
I'm looking for land that I can landscape, not flat or high quality, so maybe the price will be lower and I can make it mine by creating the type of place I want.
As far as scooters go, that's about all that go past my house, as there is no Jeepney route through here yet and I don't mind them because at least I can get around a lot easier here than I can in the city where Jeepneys block all four lanes of traffic at times picking and dropping passengers.

I don't see any difference between downtown Dumaguete and big cities. At 6pm you barely can see from Quzon Park to Lee Plaza with all that smoke and it seems to get worse.

I would not say it is that bad, specially now, as they have construction going on there is not much traffic, considering traffic means vehicles moving .

my little one needs with a trike from St Lois school longer than walking the same distance. that is ridiculous.

While I have the option to avoid that dirt and smog during rush-hour the little one has no real option. :-(
