⌛ Support the Negros economy, boycott Coca-Cola!

I'm just happy to see someone locally taking on a huge multi-national corporation like Coca-Cola®.

They aggressively push their unhealthy product upon uneducated young people. Give back nothing to the community.

And they smear their corporate logo feces everywhere you look.

The least they could do is to buy the sugar that they put in that crap from the local supplier.

Isn't anyone else tired of seeing the Coca-Cola® graffiti everywhere you look?
Or have folks been desensitized to the point of not even noticing?

 

Well, first they do buy local sugar. What the fuss is about is the premix, which also has sugar in it, as do most imported premix type items. Nobody is complaining about imported drink mixes, (Tang, etc.) which are everywhere in plastic/foil non-recyclable packets which are strewn everywhere in the ditches.

Second, Coca Cola does give back to the community. Have you ever heard of the little red schoolhouse program?;

The Little Red Schoolhouse (LRS), the flagship education program of Coca-Cola Foundation Philippines, Inc. (CCFPI), was launched in 1998 to support the Department of Education's Multi-Grade Program for public elementary schools in remote areas of the Philippine countryside. The LRS is designed to improve access to elementary education by constructing three-classroom buildings fully equipped with chairs, tables, blackboards and comfort rooms. A holistic developmental approach is also applied through workshops to upgrade the quality of instruction and equip the teachers with the special skills required to handle multi-grade classes. Parent-Teacher-Community Associations (PTCA) also undergo training on simple strategic planning, leadership development, and organizational and facility management. In 2010, the 80th LRS was successfully inaugurated, marking thirteen years of bringing quality education to elementary students all over the country.

Most of the international drink companies offering products for sale in the Philippines also import premixes, why single out Coke?

There are also alcohol, cigarette, and phone company campaign posters everywhere, pushing their unhealthy products on young people, why single out Coke? Personally choosing between cigarettes and coke, I would say that cigarettes are more unhealthy, followed by alcohol. Nobody is boycotting the the San Miguel beer brewery where Coke is made.

I'm not real big on boycott's they alway's seem to hurt someone other then the company you boycott. I remember as a young man that they had a big boycott on shrimp in my local area on the Texas coast. The objective was to drive the Vietnamese refuge's out of the shrimping area's, so the local long time shrimper's could make a living. All it did was hurt the local old shrimper's because the government stepped in and gave the Vietnamese refuge's funds to live on.
