Maybe I'm just picky but I found Coco Amigos Mexican food to be pure crap. I have yet to have a good meal there (3 visits). Like most places though, I'm sure they have a few things they do well......I just thought based off the name the Mexican food would be good. So far Mike's Beach Resort has had the best Mexican food in the area.

Mooon Cafe has been less than pleasant for me as well. Which one are you guys eating at? The one at Robinsons or the one near the Blvd? I've had a few OK meals but the horrible service kinda made me not want to return, although I'm sure I will because that's pretty much the only kind of service you find in the country.

Casa Blanca had a steak on the menu for over 1k pesos. I'm always skeptical to pay that much for a steak in the country without some really positive reviews, specifically from guys from countries known for their good steaks. Sorry nice, but I just don't listen to food reviews from filipinos. Nothing personal but we really have major differences in taste preferences. (Every filipino I have met says Greenwich Pizza is really good pizza. While I can't even finish one piece of that crap.)

You should go back to Casablanca I think they have dropped their prices. There steak Casablanca which is their chef's specialty I believe and the most expensive in the menu in about 590 pesos if I am not mistaken but its not over a thousand pesos anymore. Maybe it used to be that dear when they were still at their old location but their prices now are fairly reasonable and hygiene wise, your rest assured the food is cleanly prepared. The reason I know is that my sister is studying culinary and the owner of cads is the same owner of daca :-)

The Casa Blanca steak I was referring to was not on the menu. It was on the "Specials" board. I might try Casablanca again this afternoon. The place is by far one of the best value/taste places in Dumaguete. Don't know why I don't eat there more often. I also had never been to Casablanca while they were at their old location. (unless you're saying they've moved off the blvd).

They weren't in blvd 4 years ago, I forgot the location where they used to be. There's no steak that's about a grand or more in their menu even at their specialty board anymore. I think they've reduced their prices to compete with other restaurants in blvd. let us know how u go this time.

Their old location was at the Bakanawa Club (now closed and operating as an Internet cafe last I saw) about 2 blocks west of the market. I wasn't here when it was there.

I saw the 1k steak on the special board about 3 months ago. It started with a W. Appeared to be some special imported beef. You really can't even get a good steak in the US for less than 20 dollars in the US.....key word is "good" though. I would tell a resto in the US to shove that steak (read fat and grit) up their asses and to take it off my bill if it were served as it is here. Ask for A1 in a proper steak house in Texas and they come ask what's wrong with their steak and offer a replacement.

I see. Same in Sydney, a good steak will cost about $30 at least but Casablanca by far is close to the steak that we have here. I always like mine medium- well. :-). Goodluck

Any steak cooked more than rare will taste no different from a shoe sole :D
Best steak I had in the Phils was the Pepper Steak at George's in Bacolod. And that's local breed New Zealand beef.
    300g, 400g or 500g.

Hmm, mine should still be twitching and squirting blood. A pulse is a bonus.

Does he still serve the steak? I was there a week or so ago. He didn't bring out a food menu. Think he's getting ready to sell the place.

The Casablanca Steak is okay but occasionally Gunther gets in Mulwarra Steak which is really tender, juicy, and large. He bumps the price up a bit for it (not 1k) but you get what you pay for.
Nice, I lived in Sydney for two years and the only place I found for a good steak was a new place about a half-K north of the aquarium. I will find the name.
