Birth control pills

Birth control pills are hormones and should not be approached as like taking an aspirin. There can be very serious side effects (blood clots being one) associated with birth control pills and, depending on one's medical history, will determine which is best. Considering the nominal cost to see a doctor here, I would highly recommend consulting a doctor to make sure she gets the right one for her. There different types with different amounts of hormones that do different things. Make sure she understands what they are and how they work. Some help (and I stress "help" because it doesn't always work) decrease eggs from being released, and then they rely on the abortifacient effect (causes miscarriage by not allowing fertilized egg to become implanted), there are others that help decrease egg release, help thicken cervical mucus so that sperm cannot get through as easily (again not 100% effective), and also cause the early miscarriage (which would just be part of her monthly period) in case the other two methods fail. The woman and her doctor need to discuss which pill is best for her and her situation.
