⌛ Tourist Arrival Holding Steady

As far as i'm concerned i am not venting any racial /derogatory remarks from my last post in this thread to any group or nationalities,i am perhaps too wordy that's a subtle excuse to easily miss my point . All I was saying was the surge in number of American tourists was fuelled mainly by filipino connections or even former filipinos themselves. Cyndi and Gomez understood my point ,cheers .Majority of americans haven't got any idea about the Philippines and by far have little info about this country ,perhaps mislead by extreme travel advisories or 'bad raps ' etc ,i agree with cyndi . We have always buy this local weekly paper ,and i was heart broken to see the article of a budding writer who visited the PI mainly around manila through charity .But her writings wasn't about the charity but about visit . She was talking about her visit to this shanty town of manila where you can find people living under card board boxes ,which comes with few photos .It looks like in par of war torn side of africa .Plus anything you see in tvs are even worse .It's reality,but i wish it would have been put in balance .The philippines hasn't done much to improve its image abroad , while only filipinos think so much about Uncle Sam and have this prolonged obsession of the land of milk and honey ,which can be another topic .

The topmost arrivals are koreans ( non married or socially connected to filipinos ) ,which is a good sign that the Philippine tourism promotion in Korea is working well .The term i used 'korean invasion ' 'full blooded koreans' (synomous to what call myself as full blooded filipino ) is not racially against or condescending ,just a word i could find to describe better. Majority of them come to the Philippines because it appealled to them ,not because they have filipino sweethearts or families. They are the true visitors ,an evidence of good tourism promotions in korea .These are the type of visitors he should target in his promotions, not pinoys abroad or fil-ams.

I have nothing against koreans ,if they come bring in their money it's good for the economy the better,as their number increases ,no problem as long as they abide the law, respect nature and environment.

If all filipino americans and their families come back to visit or move in , even the better . But as said earlier , Durano should never claim americans are turning their eyes and interest in the Philippines (boosting up to his credit )as shown in the datas, oddly maj of those americans are only the home sick pinoy- ams and families . His tourism promotion agenda is by far lagging behind. He should work more for it ,but strangely he was promoting Philippine tourism in Eastern europe .People in eastern europe i doubt have their priorities set travelling for fun and leisure in asia in massive numbers or to the philippines. Might only be from few and far between better offs .Those countries had not long been freed from cold grips of communism ,economically still building up ,not strong enough for majority of its population to boost up overseas travel for leisure despite the EU membership.If he wanted better returns he should have invested more aggresively in tourism promotion and visibility among the G8 countries where money is ,what a waste of govt. funds advertising in hungary,Poland,Czech republic , must be dreaming.

 

I must say hello to these visitors and give them a "special" welcome someday. It's making me so mad!!

 

RHB, it's bad when there is stereotyping and the good majority are affected from only a handful misbehaving ones.

 

Nice topic RHB . Perhaps it would be helpful if dumaguete has this alternative of an adult community college ,offering various short term courses ,leading to qualification or pathway to another course or non qualification courses ,ranging from a day's course to couple of weeks to 6 months or more .This would target mainly out of school youths,stay in mums or housewives,retirees or people who are just interested to learn for fun or enhancing skills,like enhacing craftsmanship ,example are thai -chinese cooking (can range into 3 meetings that will spread in 3 weeks), patchwork,embroidery , conversational cebuano , making handmade cards,introducion to oil painting , wood carving course , baking etc ,just simple courses that don't stash away a lot of time and money .I went into two here 7 yrs ago ranging from one to two days course into Ceramic painting and silk painting,it was really fun ,very interesting and added to that is the social aspect of meeting people within same line of interests.

 

Yeah, those scary koreans. They should be outlawed from traveling outside their own country. How dare they. Makes me shudder. Ooohh nasty. The Koreans are responsible for everything that's wrong with Philippine tourism industry. Nasty.

Dear All , it is so good to see that the forum it working outstanding again , just like before.
Those of you that enter their highly respected reviews on the topics are the creme in the coffee ! More and more we grow as a united team and thus give a GOOD perception of things going on.here , for those that wish to be nurished and hunger for information as they will visit Negros in the nearby future.

The eventualy result will be a drastic change , at least that is what we all hope for .
Awareness is the keyword.. to solutions , though they may not yet be in reach.
During an upcoming meeting with the major , I will point out the impact this forum has on things and that it is a true asset that cannot be denied.He is a very reasoneable man , and working very hard in order to keep out with the enormous expension of Dumaguete....
