Both can be remedied while in the Philippines. An address can be had in the U.S. as noted above AND an American phone number also can be had using a magicJack. I have a P.O. Box in the U.S. and a magicJack with a U.S. phone number. Both come in VERY handy!

Plan B would be to use a trusted friend or relatives address and phone number, especially if you know no one will likely call that number.

Man it's late and I MUST be tired as I just quoted myself!!!! :D:D:D

    That's funny Dude.

    BUT-

I'll be doing laundry, cooking, and cleaning myself, instead of trusting another Filipina yaya.

The purchase was made in person, at the Louis Vuitton store at Greenbelt Makati, within 24 hours of our maid leaving, upset because I didn't give her a loan.

My wife has tried to call her cell phone, but she won't answer.

She has worked in Manila for a couple of years, and has several friends, and a boyfriend also, that she met at an internet cafe nearby our apt. Her name is Marilyn Mendoza.

Marilyn is the ONLY person other than my wife, and children, that could have possibly gotten that un-used card, and my very rarely used social security card out of our locked drawer. We only have one key to that drawer, and sometimes my wife, and me would put the keyring in our peso box, where we keep our coins. We both knew to look there first for the keys.

We also got pretty comfortable with Marilyn, at home alone with the kids. No doubt, a few times the keys got left in the peso box while we were out.

Hell, I trusted Marilyn more than I do my own in-laws. I always made double sure, that the drawer was locked, and the keys in my pocket, when the in-laws, or any company was inside the apt.

I feel I'm a decent judge of character, and still like to think that it was a friend/boyfriend of Marilyn's that talked her into stealing from us, but I'm convinced that this was her doing.

She may have sold the cards, or could have let her friends use it. Either way, it's theft plain and simple.

The police act like it's ok, since it was a poor Filipina, that stole from a foreigner.

I offered to go to the store, and maybe check the security film, to see if I recognized the person who made the purchase. But the police wrote up the report, as if the card was lost, and told me not to worry about it, since the card is insured against fraud.

While it's true, the signature will be different, and I won't have to pay the bill, I would still like to see a little effort to catch the thief.

A small electronic safebox for not frequently used items like passport or temporary bigger amounts of money is a good investment in the Philippines.
    Even 2 as camouflage.
Now in Makro Cebu at 1,699 pesos.
