Last night at about 9:55 pm, my wife saw what could only have been a meteor hit behind Talinis. No, she is not highly prone to hallucinations, and she was not the only one who saw it. She described it as a fireball moving very fast with a blue tail that crashed into the backside of the mountain, followed by a bright flash.

If I was more energetic and had more time, I would go in search of it!

My sources and good connections told me that god tried to throw some wisdom down, but 12 hours too early and not exactly the right target...

jokes aside, definitely great to watch something like that, I am sure there are already some good stories around in some remote areas

Do they streak across the sky at several thousand miles per hour?

it rained, on and off.. therefore the possibility of strong winds.. then again, its just my suspicion. Maybe it was a UFO, or maybe not..

Makes me want to sing "I thought that they were angels, but much to my surprise, we climbed aboard their starship and headed for the skies," everybody sing, "come sail away, come sail away..."

LOL. The sky was perfectly clear, stars, etc. Somehow I don't think a Chinese lantern could streak across the sky making it appear to be a meteor!

In Wyoming several times I witnessed meteors. Very exciting experience. If you have ever seen a shooting star, magnify the experience times 1000 and you have a meteor entering earths atmosphere. They can not be mistaken for anything else, as nothing else moves that fast. Certainly no "high winds" are going to blow a Chinese lantern that fast!

And why would the Chinese be flying their huge lantern behind Mt. Talinas, making it explode on impact?

:D Maybe to quickly dig the foundations for a New McDonald's without anyone knowing!

Never seen one but I guess a sight to behold, why do we never have a camera to hand when these things appear?

(Shooting Star or Meteor that is :D )
