Oh..Oh...here we go World War Three. Easy now guys. Actually the US Greenback has been sliding for awhile now and it does have at least a bit to do with Iraq ( = 1.6 Trillion in added debt so far). The US is in debt for 9 TRILLION dollars. How nations deal with monster debts is to devalue their currency and start paying thos debts down with deflated currency. You get a nice discount while ripping off the people that loaned you the money in the first place. The US has been intentionally deflating its currency with, amongst other things, lower and lower interest rates which always depreciate the buck along the way. The US administration says it supports a strong dollar but that is unanimously seen as BS. They would not want to say 'Ya we are intentionally depreciating our dollar" because then, everyone who holds them, will start dumping them in a panic and that would sink the dollar too much too soon. I'm sure the US also wants to prop up its manufacturing sector with a lower currency and lastly, but certainly not the least, China has one and a half TRILLION US Dollars in reserve. The US wants them to start spending it to spur the world economy. What better way to shake them up by making the value of that reserve worth less and less each day. China is about to go on the biggest shopping spree anyone has ever seen. It's in all the Business sections of the newspapers. Now the down side to all of this is that the US will likely trigger a serious rise in inflation in the US as all of their imported goods and commodities become more and more expensive....hence the rise in oil prices which is always priced in American dollars. Class dismissed !!

What will 1 peso buy you these days? Well, if I had 1 peso in my hand, I'd yell out, "I'm rich! I'm rich! I just found 1 peso! San Miguel Beers on the house for everyone!"

Actually lost interpreter if you want a 200 peso experience for 1 peso,,,,Find the pan handler guy who's probably in his 50's, has white hair and no teeth. his mouth looks quite puckered and I'm pretty sure he is mute because I've never heard him say anything ever. He hangs out in front of Lee Plaza and is one of the first hands in your face when you are deathly ill and trying to buy some medicine at the Pharmacy across the street from Lee. Give him the peso and you will see so much silent expression on his face that spoken words could never match.......that says.... " You cheap mother f....g Pr...k....get serious !!" the look on his face for that moment is definately worth a couple hundred.

Incidently, before the patriotic reflex starts again from you-know-who, I'm not bashing the USA here. We (Canada) wrestled control of our runaway debt by also devaluing our Canuck buck and going on a somewhat painful fiscal diet. Maybe the reason why in 4 years our dollar has gone from 62 cents US to 1.10. The following is a list of candidates in the US Presidential election who have promised greatly reduced spending and higher taxation if elected to fix these problems: ...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... .... ... .. .
