for all american lives in negros oriental... US Embassy to hold services outreach in Dumaguete July 27 - Regions - GMA News Online - Latest Philippine News Joanna
Not sure if these would be the guys I'd talk to so asking. I'm a disabled Vet and another expat I met said I could talk to guys at the embassy about applying for SSDI. Anyone know anything about that sort of thing? I just don't want to go running off to Manila on what 1 person said but dunno if these Embassy guys would help with that sort of thing.
They are supposed to be answering questions on Social Security so it would be worth asking before going to Manila. Nothing lost.
We were told that if the turnout was good they will schedule Dumaguete again. As we were early and out by 10 AM can't say what was the result.
Your result? Hi daan, Whilst I am not from the US, it would be interesting to know, if you found this outreach, of use to you? I don't wish to appear rude or nosey but did they, answer you questions with some degree of knowledge and success for you? We could do with the British Emabassy embarking on this sought of outreach, although we do not number, as many as those from the US, I wonder if it is worth asking the British Embassy, to give it a try. Of late, we have had a few queries on some of the same topics. Given the world To-day, it can be worrying about the future. Not to mention the loss of our Passport office in the PI, but our pensions will be in question I fear, This sort of outreach may well be so very useful. Maybe our local Warden, will pick up on this. Our Result! This was singularly our best encounter ever with embassy officials. We were courteously informed of policies by the Consul who went out of his way to creatively extend help to citizens with concerns. He expressed doubts about budgets that might restrict future outreach visits. Previously we've always visited the Cebu Consulate, where we've encountered an officious and arrogant local hire plus visiting American officers who were obviously Fresh-Off-the-Boat and unhappily in the Philippines. Good luck in getting service from your officials, you're not alone in worrying about your pension.
