Hi everyone. I just joined and am interested in any diving-related topic, particularly the legitimacy of compelling diveguides who help promote tourism and protect the marine environment to also pay sanctuary fees/dive, which by international standards are a bit too high. There's no doubt that the local town council means well by enforcing the no sanctuary fee, no dive policy as it has already shown positive effects on the marine environment, but the sanctuary fees being charged in relation to what one actually expects to see underwater, particularly at Apo Island, are not reasonable enough.
