    Boat charges and Pension House

Hi! I'll be going to Dumaguete with a couple of friends in about 2 weeks. We want to go to the Manjuyod Sand bars. Now, I know from the threads that the boats costs about Php2500 - Php 3500, and this are generally for about 15-20 people/ There are only 3 of us, do you guys have anyone you can recommend who would rent a boat for us for a lesser price?

The pension house that Dane and his groups stayed in, what is the name of that pension house? Can you give me more info about it, like how much and where is it located? Or do you have any recommended hostels/pension houses that would cost us less than Php700 a night. Yeah I know, we are cheap... but it's one of the many places we are going to and we need to keep our belts tight.

    Thanks!

This is what I am talking about, the tourism office should promote tourism business enterprise involving the local people in the area, not only to a couple or sole enterprising unit catering to dolphin watching where there is only one fixed price. Local filipinos of dumaguete ,negros and other islands should enjoy the gift of their land not overpriced and not just for foreign tourists who have money to spend .

If there are various business units that cater this type of services from small enterprising locals to bigger hotels ,then there are various prices and choices and everybody will be happy as larry .As of now this type of dolphin activity is for foreign tourist or for those with money to spend ,but not for the local population of Filipinos on the budget .I bet not many living in Bais and Manjuyod have done this dolphin watching .

My advise to those who don't like to spend too much in this activity ,try to negotiate with locals in coastal areas of both Bais or Campuyo in Manjuyod esp with the local fishermen. But you need to drive down or take a tricycle to these areas as they're some distance from town center. There are many fishing boats out there ,might have the possibility to charter a small pump boat for lesser price for just few hours in the morning or half a day's session.

    .....................................

There is a beach resort called the Bahia beach resort or something and it's near the jump off point in Bais.My cousin have stayed there with 2 kids one time.I reckon she said you can get the cottages for about a thousand pesos /day ,but don't have further info whther it's only with fan or aircon. But there is another hotel in the city proper of Bais too, La Planta something .Might come cheaper than the Bahia. There's a resort in Campuyo in manjuyod, the Aroma beach resort, with native cottages seems a quiet place. The sand bar is closer to Campuyo.

For Dongski17. The P2,500 boat ride includes the cottage rental already. You can only rent the cottages thru the Manjuyod City office. You can rent other pumpboat to the sand bar but can't use the cottage.

As for Misisseraphico, The Sandbar is situated between Bais city and the Town of Manjuyod. It is however under the jurisdiction and administration of the town of Manjuyod. From Dumaguete you have to travel about 1hr and 30 minutes to reach the place. Whale watching is based in Bais city.

    Just for info guys.

    Hi Captain

Hi captain ,the trip to Bais from Dgte takes about an hour .Bus fare can be around 40- 50 pesos/person I think , so many connections of diff busses n jeepneys going to n fro Bais and Dumaguete .When you reach Bais you have to inquire tricycle connections to bahia or that sea side village ,if in a hurry just charter perhaps a habal-habal or tricycle .

IMHO a pure trip to the sandbar is a bit a waste of money, unless you have dolphins in your swimming-pool at home and see them everyday. just to check it of your travel list i think it's not worth it.

    cheers

I have 1 experience at the sandbar which I think is worth the trip.Like I said before, we had an overnight stay there. But this one happened early in the morning around 6 am.,Where there is just a little light from the sun. About a 100 meters away from the 3rd cotteged where we stayed and into the sea,I alone set out to fish. It was a low tide. The water was just below my chest.fronting me is where the seabed drops into the deep cliff.(hope you get the picture)Wearing a snorkel and in a crouch position, I submerge myself and look into the deep infront of me. Whoa! Guess what I saw? It was like I was infront of a wide screen in a theater watching different schools of fishes going to and fro. I was so awed at the sight. Wow.What a view. I saw lots of fishes but could identify Tuna and Tamarong only, Then I remembered That my purpose there is to fish, so I went fishing using imported baits a bait. Too bad the fishes won't be fooled. I caught nothing. he he. Believe me. you won't regret if you try it. Bring cameras because it would be so useful to you.
