I've been away from dumaguete for 2 years, after living there over 10 years. Going back tomorrow.

#1. Functional government. At least as corrupt, if not more, but it functions.
#2. Friendly people who act happy even when they have difficulties.
#3. Noise. Roosters, dogs, radios, TV's, etc. Dumaguete sounds like a disco in a circus.
    #4. Absolutely.
    #5. Volunteer job.
#6. None that comes to mind.

Word Nerd, I am curious why you are asking for this info and why the questions are positive and negative? Have you been listening to Katy Perry's 'Your hot and your cold' song too often. What will you use the info for? Is it for decision making? What are your own answers after visiting the island? You tell me yours and I'll tell you mine. Thanks

I miss a good bourbon selection.

I enjoy the fact that my beautiful young wife, puts up with me, and is either very happy, or a really good actor.

Driving around all the Jack@sses trying to run me off the road is somewhat annoying.

I'd have moved to the Philippines sooner, if I had it to do over again.

Cheap living, and also low cost education for my new wife.

yes... Me and my wife flagged a tricycle and asked for a ride back to the Blvd. I was surprised when the driver stopped and picked up another rider, that brought along his rooster.

There are a lot of differences between 'my' Europe and the Philippines but the question is what I do miss the most.
My home country is much cleaner, has much more space for people who want to drive around on their bicycle, has good cheeses ....etc.etc....
But what do I miss ?? Can't figure out.
So also what I do miss THE MOST is not to be answered by me.

WAIT !!!! I just found something .... I miss the 'keeping promises' attitude :D
Yes, I have still difficulties with the general attitude of people here telling so and so and then doing no and no.
But that is not a characteristic of only the Philippine people !

i miss reblochon cheese and petrus, chateau margaux...
here, i hate the road! under construction road or out of budget road! and the local motorcycle drivers are Hell!
i like dumaguete simply because it has a better cost of living, a good school where my daughter goes, a good hospital and beautiful landscape too!

once, i told my husband..if only i can make this country in accordance to your liking i would do it now. but, he said "it's okey you are the reason why i'm here"..

maybe but for now i love the US--there are things in the US that duma don't have . Fresh milk, sewer management, pollution control and laws.and traffic lights and lanes, use of pesticide laws. oh well, i love it here in the US because i can live here in US comfortably at this time but who knows i might go live in duma when i cannot afford to live here in the US any more.sorry, i was born and raised in duma but my heart is in the US ,peace and quite, no loud music blasting evry where, no junk cars with smoky pipes on the road, i could go on and on.. dont you ever wonder why still lots of filipinos are wanting to come over here on a waiting lists? something must be good or great in the US. it is a FREE country "land of the free."
