I have a very long nose

Yes i do not know much about fillipino behaviour cause i have never befrended one before but i will ad my two cents non the less. I am from Africa so i live in a multicultural society and can say this. Generalizations about peoples behaviour based on what race they are and what cultural background you think they should have is full of fallacies. With communication and interaction with people of other races and so on now so easy over the world one see that people are not that different from each other anyhow. You will allways find a drunk, a romantic, a player, a devoted etc. person in any race and culture around the world. You have to be yourself and just look out for someone that is themselves and you can find what ever kind of person you are looking for anywhere in the world in my opinion.

I enjoyed reading this thread and decided to give my opinion too.

Most Filipina want to marry westener for one major reason, financial security. Yes, this is very practical to some.

But I really appreciate those filipinas who were sucessful in their lives even without marrying a westener.

Yes, you don't need a westener to be able to have financial security. You need to study, work and be responsible for yourself.

These basic things will lead you to a successful life.

    Thanks!

Well, I certainly agree that Financial Security is the primary reason for marrying a foreigner...however, to be fair, don't most pinays and their families apply the same financial security test to prospective filipino grooms as well? I have heard many, many filipinas and/or their families rejecting or at least delaying a possible marriage because the filipino prospective groom's prospects weren't bright enough...

I guess my point is that I don't really view their desiring financial security necessarily using or discriminatory against foreigners as they apply the same rules to any prospective groom.

Also, let's be honest, the top thing all women in any culture in the world desire from a mate is security (which is mostly financial concern in our modern world).

And, in case you are wondering, the top thing men desire is .67 waist to hip ratio. (And, I really not joking there is science behind this!)

In some cases it may have started, as Ryx14 has stated, but some of the families I know end up the other way around. Meaning the Filipina supporting the "Westerner" or foreign spouse. This is true mainly amongst Filipinas that migrated to the West, many of whom are professionals, i.e., nurses, therapist, doctors, etc. It is not uncommon to see the husbands staying at home taking care of the children while the Filipina wife goes to work, sometimes doing 16 hour shift (nurses) to make a better life for the whole family.

    my two cents...

there are quite a number of reasons ive been hearing filipina friends say from kinky to dead-serious.

but a common response i get from filipinas who go for westerners is about their physical features. they're attractive, and they're different, and "i'll get cute little western-looking babies!" i find it a bit amusing if i were to put on a chinese-descent mindset, but its a sense of pride for some pinoy families to have mestizo grandchildren.

and of course another common response, many of you have already pointed out, has something to do with maturity when it comes to matters of financial security. it seems most westerners who visit the country have already put their priorities in order and that, for the westerner-seeking-filipina, is just a checklist of "to do" things that she simply has to help with.

but just like in any other relationship, in the long run, i guess how one cares about the relationship should be equally important as to whom one might choose to be partner. and these i sincerely pray the "liberated" filipina sees before plunging into something that might mess her up big time.
