Diving in the PI is like diving in a dirty bath tub. If you want to go diving, I suggest that you go to Palau, Guam, and Saipan. PI is a lousy place for diving.

Yeah, Tubigboy. That's why I went so many times to the Philippines to dive there because it's such a nice "dirty bath tub".
And that's why I decide some years ago to live and dive here.
Oh sure, there are many places on earth where I did dive that had better visibility. Even icediving was often more clear
Strange that soo many divers come here who did dive on many places in the world.
They also favour 'our' dirty bath tub here I guess, and not the variety of species ?
Good to hear that you're a diver as well and did dive aparently at many places.
Or was it just at only a few (dirty bath tub) places here in the Philippines ?

Palau, Truk, Yap, Guam, Saipan, do not have poisonus box jellyfish and tons of poisonus sea snakes like they do off of the coast of Negros and Apo island!

If you have not had the chance to dive in these places you will never know the difference. Trust me, go take a flight to Palau and you will never want to dive in and around Apo again! Similiar to fly fishing; salt and fresh water. Once you have done salt water fly fishing, fresh water is pretty boring!

Trust you ??? why ??? That is a statement of somebody who has no clue about diving. (I guess TB gave Yabs his password).

I was diving Yap one week and 2 times on the Palau Aggressor II, so I guess I can compare...

Palau is for sure world-class diving. Plenty of Pelagics, nice Walls and drifts.

The waters of Micronesia is also home for the banded Sea-Snake (which are harmless as they neither attack, nor can bite you cause of their mouth-shape and position of teeth) as well as Box Jellyfish. TB, again proof of your knowledge and how much members here should trust you... :p

Divers who are not into diversity and small stuff, or too blind to see things smaller than a tricycle, or just wanna see BIG stuff the places mentioned above are a better solution for them. The PI are definitely the wrong place for them (discussed in another thread before)

I did not see much what I haven't seen in the PI before. The coral growth and aquatic life is healthy and nice but the only a fraction of the diversity just here in Dauin and Apo, not talking about Tubbataha or different opportunities in Wreck diving or Apo Reef or or or...

If you are in a Resort (Yap or Palau) you have very limited dive-spots or very long boat-rides if you don't wanna dive the same 3 spots for the whole week.

considering on top the minimum US$3000 for the Palau Aggressor II (without Airfare (international and domestic,Insurance, Nitrox fills,Hotel stays, Tips for Crew, Park Fee's, relative expensive food and beverages) it is quite expensive for what you get as almost everything you see there is also around in the PI-waters and much much more...

but what do I know, I am just a beginner and german on top

It may be more expensive but, to each their own. Guam and Saipan are not that expensive. $289 round trip with two nights and three days included to Guam and or Saipan. All you have to do is drive to the beach and go down some steps and your all set!

I guess you were on one of SAM'S dive boats in Palau? Big rip-off!

I have never heard about the box jellyfish being in Guam, Saipan, Chuuk, Yap and or Palau. This is news to me.

Nitrox? How deep are you going?

They had some people diving right off of the pier in Merizo, Guam a few years back looking for the remains of a Spanish Galleon. That was pretty interesting. They were using Nitrox but, they were going over 200 feet down. Pulled up some silver coins and plates but, one of the guys died so, they stopped diving.

another proof that you have no clue about diving  I stated clearly where I was diving with and SAM's Tours is not involved with them, He charters their boat sometimes for his guests...

nitrox is increasing your bottom-time but decreasing your max depth.

a 32% O2 mix limits you to 34 meters (based on a PPO2 of 1.4) what would be around 110 ft for people who use weired meassurements and scales :p
    36 % O2 to 28 meters (again based on PPO2 of 1.4) so around 95 ft.

So if somebody goes on Nitrox to 200 ft he must be a fool like some members here on DI try to make up storys without knowledge, just because:

they know sombody whos cousin is a friend of someone who heard a story from a trikedriver on fields who once had a guest whos uncle sold silvercoins on the streets of Guam....:p

No need to continue that discussion as you proofed your knowledge .... again...

    cheers

Who uses dive boats when you dont have to? That costs big money and is for amatuers. They are all rip-offs! I just go out with my friends on their boats. I just know that SAM's is a one of the big dive companies there. Any experienced diver would know this.

It takes 30 minutes to get out to Apo. Thats a short ride on a boat? Crappy banca boat too! Mmmm, let me inhale some lousy exhaust while I wait to see the effects of dynamite on a coral reef! Hopefully the coral reef is growing back now that it has been a marine sanctuary.

Wait, you make a living off of the dive business in Dumaguete. Obviously, no conflict there!
A guy dives in Puerta Galera for a few years then Dumaguete and all of sudden he is Jackie Cousteau! Tre bien!
Like I said. Who cares what the names of dive boats or companies are. They are there to make money on newbies. You would care because this is your business. For example, I have never been on the Island Girl 1 or 2 on Guam. Why, because its a big rip-off! Heck, you can walk down into the blue hole on Saipan and many of the boat wrecks on Guam too are just off the shoreline. Just wade in and a way you go! You can go get your tanks filled at a dive shop on Saipan and pay all kinds of bs money or you can go to the PIC hotel and get em filled for $50 US.
Why did you spend so much money on Palau for diving? I guess you were just a newbie then and or did not know anyone there.

Yabs, again to stupid to read???
I never said I spend money there... I said i dived it and stated the costs, Why I dived there and how I got that is another topic, but it might have something to do with my job ;-), like diving in about 40 other countries...

your example with the Island girl is good, you just forgot to say that you also have been not much around lat all like your great knowledge about diving proofs.

your Guam package has the small disavantage that you can't dive more than once in that time. (a diver would know how many dives he can do and why):
day 1 arriving late afternoon, so no diving
day 2 could be a morning dive or two in a hassle (as a diver would know the rules about flying after diving )
    day 3 early departure....
    wow monster deal...

you might know how to deal with google, but thats it...

refill your tank, walk in the water and have worldclass dives, sounds pretty much like diving in Dauin or Ducomi or Balicasag or Coron or parts of parts of Siquijor just all of them with a bigger much diversity than the places the "expert" mentioned... a real hero... congrats

I earn some money with diving, correct, but its not what i am living off...
but I stick to facts I know and expierienced, not to something someone researched online and try to sell it as his wisdom...

you are not even a diver, what are you trying to tell next to big lies...
