Thanks for all replies.... But I have absolutely no intention to hire local people to work for me, as I will continue doing the programming work myself as I'm doing now (at rates between 40 and 70 euros / hour that will do for a good living I suppose in the Phils :D ).
I'm thinking also about option #3 and a Ltd. company in a place few hours flying from Manila (we are working now already on that as we are tired of being ripped of by socialist governments and eurocrats in Brussels  ), but I think maybe is good to show some income also for residence status etc. ? Or will it be better to put a store on name of my wife only ?
So again my question, if I don't think about hiring any employees, is it necessary to register a business and do all the paper work, or is a BIR tax number enough ?

As far as I know, you can't get a BIR tax number if you have no business registered. If you plan to live in the Philippines, work alone and the work is invoiced abroad and paid to your account in the Philippines I recommend you register a company, not to show for the residence status but at least to play your part in helping to develop the area you are residing in. I am sure you agree that makes sense.

Sure, I agree with this as well. It is fair to be contributing to the country that you are living in, especially a poorer country. I will probably make everything legit after I get there.

Insad, I agree and I am much the same. My programming will be done by me. However, my work is heavier on the web development side and that is certainly not all programming. We often hire people from India and Philippines to do data entry, writing content and other similar tasks. Hiring people to do the same but sitting right next to me would work out great I think.
