    Great thread :D

I still have to experience that soccer is more popular than basketball here.
But I will give you that it is more popular here than any other place I have been in the philippines

Martillo....didn't you see all those big soccer stadia around here in Dumaguete ? :D
I even haven't seen yet a team playing soccer during my stay of 2 years now here.
Yeah...some school boys at a cemented plaza.
But from Zamboanguita till Dumaguete I pass MANY basketball court centres at each little Barangay, and on all those places I see them playing from late afternoon till ??
So I must have mist all those soccerplayers around here as well as you did.

    Hi Jellyfish!

Come up to Valencia - they play football (Soccer) almost every day on the pitch in the centre of town. I often stop and watch. There are some VERY good players - in fact, the team I support in the UK (Oldham Athletic) could do with signing some of these Filipino guys - perhaps then they would not lose every bloody week!!!

Ok, I still have to text you to have that beer at your home Teach.
So we can combine 2 things....cold beer and viewing a good soccer game :D
Oldham Athletic....????.... must then be a team in the 4th division of the provincial league

you know you are in Dumaguete:

If you watch on a Sunday afternoon to a school-presentation of 7-8 year old kids is Quezon Park and see them dressed like "bar- dancers" with a movement like "dancers" and all that to a Hip Hop song with the appropriate lyrics:

"If you wanna get rich, you have to be a b*tch"

sounds like another high qualified teacher in the University town who choose that song...
