After spending close to 5 decades of my life in Canada, to say I was ready for a change was a minor understatement. Fed up with a climate where I spent 6 months of the year working my ass off, just to be able to afford to “survive” the winter months, and disillusioned with the state of relationships with Western women, I started to take a few months off each winter and wander the world in search of a different life. After traveling through numerous countries in Southern and Central America, I took the big leap and ventured to Asia , and the Philippines for the first time. On a small and remote tropical island , not far from Boracay, I found my paradise on earth.
Over the next 3-4 years I visited the Philippines numerous times, and though I never fell in love with any of the women I met, I did fall head over heals in love with the country. Then, in 2013, I met the women of my dreams as well. Though to that time I was pretty well convinced and accepting that I would spend the rest of my years alone, and not really upset about it, 2 weeks after I met Shirley , I asked her to marry me.
Not long after, the realization set in that the only way to realize my dreams was to plan a permanent move to the Philippines.
I do not pretend to have all the answers but in my blogs I will try and share with my readers some of my own personal experiences , challenges and joyous moments in my ongoing journey.
