Negros Island Region was created last May 29, 2015 by the President of the Philippines, Mr. Benigno Aguino III. It is island composed of the province of Negros Oriental and Negros Occidental with the urbanized City of Bacolod City. Together with these changes is also the expanding of tourism industry. There are so many things that you can do here in this island. Here is a list of suggestions that you have to do when you visit this island:
1. Have a pictorial at the Ruins which is located at Talisay, Bacolod City.

This tourist attraction is both educational and historical. It has beautiful lines and arches. If you visit this place, you are like going back to the 18’s. No need to explain more, as what you see in the photo, you would really admire the place.
2. Taste the famous lechon (roasted pig) in Malatay, Zamboangita.

Zamboanguita is well known for 2 things: First, it is the jump-off point for world reknown dive spot, Apo Island. 2nd, Wednesday is the popular Malatapay Market. There lechon is a must try. They also served different food delicacies. Zamboangita is a 40 minutes by bus, south of Dumaguete.
3. Visit the little Baguio in Valencia Negros Oriental.

Valencia is a 20 minutes travel from Dumaguete City. This place is located at the mountains of Negros Oriental. The place is surrounded with plants and nature. Thus, the place is cold and windy. There are several tourist attractions in the place such as the Pulang Bato (Red Rocks) falls, the Tejero Higland Resort, the Japenese Shrine and the Forest Camp Resort. Since the place is cold, expect that the water is also cold as ice. But there is also one place that offers hot spring water, which is Ocean 24 resort.
4. Take a stroll at Dumaguete, the City of Gentle People.

Dumaguete City is the capital of Negros Oriental. You can visit Rizal Boulevard, Freedom Park, Belfry Tower and so much more. Dumaguete is the most civilized City in Negros Oriental. Though Dumaguete is not the biggest in land, but Dumaguete had maximized all the spaces in the area.
5. Visit Silliman University, one of the Philippine’s top higher education institutions.

Silliman University, founded August 28, 1901 is the only school in the Philippines which is part of the list of “50 Most Beautiful Christian College and University Campuses in the whole world. Silliman University is also a national historical landmark in Dumaguete City.
6. Go Diving
Negros has a lot of beautiful diving areas in the area. There are a lot of marine sanctuaries and diving spots which are taken cared off by divers as well. The two famous places for diving are Apo Island and Dauin Negros Oriental.
7. Join the Buglasan Festival during the month of October.

This event happens once in a year. It is a thanksgiving fair for all the towns, and cities in Negros Oriental. It is also a show of each festival in a particular town and city. This event is also called the Buglasan Festival of Festivals. This is one of the highlighted events in the province of Negros Oriental.

8. Satisfy your taste buds with the different delicacies in each place of Negros Island.
